Can I be hypnotized?

Most people can be hypnotized. If you have tried and it has failed, try again with a more experienced hypnotist. The skill level of the hypnotist matters. This does not equate to years of experience, but in methods of hypnosis used.

When do I need a referral from a therapist to do hypnosis?

If you are seeing a hypnotist for a mental health issue, you will need to have a referral from a licensed therapist. If you are unsure if your case qualifies for this, ask your hypnotist and they can let you know if they need a referral to see you for your particular concern.

When do I need a referral from a doctor to do hypnosis?

When you want to see a hypnotist for a medical or medically related concern, you will need to get a referral from a doctor. For instance, if you want hypnosis for chronic pain, then a doctor’s referral is required.

How long is a hypnosis session?

This depends on what you need hypnosis for. Most hypnosis sessions last about an hour. However, the first session for smoking cessation can last up to two hours.

How does hypnosis work?

Hypnosis is a method of learning that allows you to take in, and retain, information rapidly. This type of learning helps you to retrain your brain and change habits quickly.

Can you make me do things I don’t want to do with hypnosis?

I cannot make you do something you do not want to do during hypnosis. Hypnosis is a method of learning, and no matter what you learn, it cannot change who you are as a person, or your morals compass.

Will I lose control during hypnosis?

You will still be in control during hypnosis. Even while under hypnosis, you could stand up, walk around, and stop the session at any time if you become uncomfortable. In hypnosis, you are in charge, I just facilitate you learning what you want and making the changes you want in your life.
