Why Hypnosis?
Have you ever tried to change and failed? Maybe the change even seemed relatively simple and easy, and you still could not manage? If you’ve come to see a hypnotherapist for hypnosis, chances are you’re looking for some type of change.
Whether it’s a small change (stopping nail biting) or a large change (stopping smoking), there will be some emotion around the change. In order to support that change, my goal as your hypnotherapist is for your feelings around the change to be positive and preferably passionate. Hypnosis can help start and maintain this positive attitude.
Making Change Easier
There are several things that determine how you feel about change and how strong those feelings are (Roseman, 2017). There are many ways you can make your experience of change more positive. Today we’ll take a look at the first of those, how to break down change.
Make change smaller
As I’m sure you’ve already noticed, smaller changes have less of an emotional impact on us than larger changes (Roseman, 2017). After all, how excited are you when you lose half a pound versus if you lost 20 pounds? The same can be said for changes that could be seen as difficult or negative.
For instance, how frustrated would you feel if you went to the doctor and were told you needed to completely give up watching movies and television, or you had to read 3 books a week? On the other hand, it’s much easier to cut down TV consumption from 4 hours a night to 3. As your hypnotherapist, I will help you break change down to more manageable levels and use hypnosis to help make it stick.
Make Change Positive
For this reason, if changes are going to be seen as positive, it is good to make them quicker. For instance, if you need to lose weight and you love dancing, it would be fairly easy to commit to taking a dance class or going dancing a couple nights each week. Changes that will be seen as negative should be made in a smaller, more incremental fashion. For instance, it’s hard to expect someone to stop eating all the foods they love. However, it would be easier for someone who tends to overindulge in sugar to only be allowed to eat sweets with one meal of the day.
As your hypnotherapist I will help you determine how quickly to make changes so that they stick. I will then use hypnosis to help you see changes in a more positive light.
Hypnosis helps you change
I have worked with many hypnotherapy clients to promote positive changes in their lives. Hypnosis helps with changes ranging from quitting a habit, to gaining new skills to become more successful in your job. As your hypnotherapist, I will help you break down change into smaller increments. I will use hypnosis to help you accept the change.
Hypnosis also helps you to view the change more positively and you can use hypnosis to make each of the small steps to change easier. And finally, hypnosis can help you break barriers in your subconscious that have stopped you from making the changes you want and need. Don’t go it alone, if you are having a hard time making a change, contact me today to discuss how hypnosis can help you.
